Beskrivelse

In autumn 2003, Arkitektens Forlag/The Danish Architectural Press in collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, began the registration and scanning of many thousand drawings from Jørn Utzon's office, which only represent a small part of the material that was stored at the Damsbo manor in the custody of Jan Utzon. This work will continue so that the Utzon Archives will have registered and in part scanned about 25.000 drawings when the most significant part of Jørn Utzon's drawings has been examined.

The Utzon Library is a direct offshoot of the Utzon Archives, as during the examination of the many drawings a number of hitherto unknown projects were discovered. In addition, the abundance of drawings can shed new light on Jørn Utzon´s work processes as well as the ideas and proposals that led to the final results.

This first book in the Utzon Library, which deals with Utzon's own houses, contains a number of drawings that have not previously been published. This is especially true of the four projects for his house in Bayview, Sydney, which unfortunately never got past the drawing stage, as Utzon had left Australia when the authorities finally got around to approving the project.
