If you are New to the Drums...
You are about to buy your first drum kit. Great, but be careful, don't use a million on a bad set of kettles. Read the chapter Choice of Drums and proceed to the technical stuff in Drumming Technique.
Learn to set-up and tune the drums and the basic stick and pedal techniques. Try the first paradiddles, rolls and fills. Proceed to chapter Playing in the Band. Learn how to play together with the band in different styles and the whereabouts of a drum solo. Well, now you are almost there.
Oops! You are a Pro, right?
Yes, there are lots of stuff for you, too. What about the 26 rudiments or odd meters and polyrhythms in all details with many exercises? Or what about percussion? Cowbell, tambourine, congas, timbales, guiro, maracas, claves, djembe, bodhran or triangle?
And best of all, a whole collection of tough drum exercises and patterns (more than 200 pages to be more precise) that will make you sweat for a while. This is certainly not just a beginner's book - we have the lots for advanced players as well.
The last chapter, The Music Business, gives you an important insight into the real world of music. In a humoristic tone, you are guided through the many pit-falls of professional life, going to auditions, touring, and recording. This chapter might get you safer through the jungle.
