European Sports Law – A Comparative Analysis of the European and American Model of SportA comprehensive comparative analysis of the most important legal issues that dominate European sport.The book describes the increasingly stronger involvement in the regulation of European sports by the European Union following the adaptation of the “Sports Article” (Art. 165 TFEU) in the Lisbon Treaty. This development takes place in a time, where the traditional European Model of Sport is challenged by the unprecedented globalization of popular sports around the world. The book also addresses the concept of “Lex Sportiva” and the rising influence on sports law jurisprudence by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Author presentationThe author is Lars Halgreen, who is a partner in Johan Schlüter law firm in Copenhagen. Mr. Halgreen is an associate professor in international sports law at the Copenhagen University, and since 2004 he has been appointed as an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). He is a frequent speaker at sports law conferences and has published a great number of books and articles on sports law topics.
